2012 ushers in the Chinese Year of the Water Dragon. It starts on the 23rd of January 2012 and ends on the 9th of February 2013.
Water Dragons occur every 60 years (Yang Water Dragon). The energetic high point of the year is the dragon moon, which is from May 20 to June 18 (new moon is May 20, full moon is June 4 and dragon moon is over June 18. June 19 begins the snake moon, which will set up the energy for the following year, 2013, year of the Yin Water Snake).
The dragon has been revered in China for thousands of years. It was a symbol of great power, prosperity and energy. The dragon was a benevolent creature to the Chinese (the opposite of the western dragons). The dragon was the chosen symbol to represent the emperor and the whole of China.
In Sung Dynasty (a Chinese imperial dynasty lasting from AD 960 - 1279) texts, the dragon is described as having the head of an ox, muzzle of a donkey, eyes of a shrimp, horns of a deer, body of a serpent covered with fish scales, and feet of a phoenix. The dragon usually clutches a pearl symbolic of its super-natural powers. Invariably accompanied by thunder and rain, dragons move like lightning and whirlwinds.
This 2012, is a time of great awakening and cleansing. The purging of the old and the acceptance of new ideas and views. It will also be when certain things are put into priority and we start doing things for the grander scheme of things, since water is the element that governs Career and Life path.
There will be a lack of Metal element this year. Metal is related to Banking and Finances. Invest carefully and don't let opportunities go to waste.
Kong Hei Fat Choi/Gong Xi Fat Chai! :)
